Taylorville Memorial Hospital

Laboratory at Taylorville Memorial Hospital

TMH offers a full service laboratory offering a broad range of routine and specialty services for both inpatient and outpatient medical care. We are accredited by the Joint Commission based on the results of on-site inspections.

Each laboratory department is directed by a pathologist from the Pathology Associates of Central Illinois, as well as a registered medical technologist employed by TMH.

The laboratory is accredited by the Joint Commission, the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and holds a CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) certificate from the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The bloodbank provides blood and blood components for transfusion. All blood products are received from the Central Illinois Community Blood Center.

The chemistry department performs general chemistry, therapeutic drug, lipid, and endocrine analytes. Routine and stat testing is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The coagulation laboratory offers a wide range of diagnostic services and tests. The routine tests are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The hematology laboratory offers a full range of routine tests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A wide variety of special tests are performed either in the hematology laboratory or in the special hematology laboratory.

The Microbiology/Virology Department offers many services for isolation and identification of bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites. Specimens should be accompanied by pertinent clinical information to ensure that proper techniques will be employed in culturing the specimen.

Drug Screens

The laboratory performs collections for drug screens. The lab can collect NIDA, Chain of Custody, and general toxicology screens. The laboratory has a certified Medical Review Officer on staff, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
