Annual Giving

Annual Giving is generally provided each year from donors who make gifts in the form of a check or cash. The Foundation uses annual gift income to make grants in support of patient care, education and research. Annual gifts of $500 or more are recognized in the Foundation's community update and on the Recognition Wall located near the cafeteria in the lower-level of Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

An endowment provides long-term stability as the principal donated is never withdrawn. Instead, interest income is used each year in accordance with the donor's specified instructions.

An endowed fund is an effective, thoughtful and lasting way of recognizing the life and accomplishments of a loved one, while at the same time advancing patient care and education.

Frequently, an endowment is created to support an area of personal interest, a specific department or for use at the TMH Foundation board's discretion. Because the principal amount is never withdrawn, endowments are truly gifts that keep giving year after year.

Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation administers several endowments. Donations can be made to any of these funds.

Gifts of Remembrance

Gifts of Remembrance are a special way of marking events or occasions, whether it's a moment of joy or sadness, while supporting Memorial Health System and its affiliates.

A gift of remembrance can be in memory of a loved one, a recognition gift to express appreciation for care or to acknowledge an important day or event in someone's life.

The most popular planned gift is the simple charitable bequest. Bequests give the donor the chance to leave a lasting legacy. A charitable bequest can be made through your will or trust agreement and can take many forms. Donors can leave a specific asset, a specific sum of money, a percentage of an estate or what remains of an estate after the other beneficiaries receive their share.

If you wish to make a bequest to the TMH Foundation, please contact your attorney and provide them with the following information:

Gifts of Stock

Gifts of long-term appreciated securities are the most popular type of outright property gift. The securities are often individual stocks, but may include bonds or shares of mutual funds. Please have your broker contact us for information.

Gifts of Farmland and other Real Estate

When appreciated real estate is given to the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation, capital gains taxes are completely avoided and the full fair market value of the property is deductible as a charitable contribution.

Gifts of Tangible Personal Property

Antiques, sculptures, real estate, artwork, and jewelry - these are just a few examples of tangible personal property that friends have used to make charitable gifts to the Foundation.

Gifts of Life Insurance

Many of our friends have life insurance policies that are no longer needed for their security or the security of their families. A good example is a policy for a child's education, but the child is now an adult and the policy is no longer needed.

Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a great way to make meaningful gifts while enjoying income and tax benefits that can also help enhance a donor's future financial well-being. Under the terms of a gift annuity, a charitable gift of cash or other property is made. Then the donor and/or others if desired receive fixed payments for life. Payout rates vary depending on your age. And, of course, your gift benefits the program at Taylorville Memorial Hospital that you wish to support, or areas of our greatest need.

Gift of Grain

A gift of grain is a unique way to make a charitable gift to the Taylorville Memorial Hospital. You can make a grain gift by simply designating TMH Foundation as the recipient of bushels of grain at any local elevator. Your gift will allow you to avoid the sale of the commodity as income, thus rendering tax savings.
