TMH Welcomes Taylorville Area First Graders
Taylorville Memorial Hospital recently held My Day, a 37- year tradition for area first grade students. This field trip was attended by nearly 200 students over a two day period.
During their two-and-a-half hour visit, students were taught proper hand washing techniques and toured the kitchen, laundry and housekeeping departments. Dunn’s Ambulance was onsite to speak with students about what happens with patients in an ambulance and to let the students see the inside of the ambulance. The first grade students were also able to visit exhibits from the TMH Rehab Services, Radiology, Nursing, Surgery, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy departments where they learned valuable information about the human body and how each department helps people get better.
“It is a goal of TMH to provide a program that is fun and takes away the fear of coming to the hospital. It also reinforces the science and health topics they learn at school but goes beyond the book,” said Melissa Thomas, Administrative Secretary and coordinator of My Day.
Taylorville Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed critical access hospital with a mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization and is an affiliate of Memorial Health System.
