TMH Employees Learn Effective Aggression Management
Taylorville Memorial Hospital recently held education sessions for employees to learn Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM). This course provided employees with the knowledge and skills to keep patients and staff safe.
The course was designed to cover specific hazards of working in the healthcare setting. Staff learned how to identify and manage aggressive behaviors and were taught effective strategies to enhance communication and build relationships.
“An important objective of the class was useful verbal techniques to de-escalate potential volatile situations,” said TMH Nurse Manager Kristy Cesaretti. “They also learned techniques such as safe working positions, types of distractions, defense moves and escape moves.”
There were eight sessions taught over a seven day period. A total of 61 hospital staff members attended the 4-hour course. The class was taught by Cesaretti and Brian Douglas MSN, Memorial Medical Center.
