New CEO Named for Taylorville Memorial Hospital
Kimberly L. Bourne, system director of patient safety for Memorial Health System, has been named the new president and CEO of Taylorville Memorial Hospital. A 25-year veteran of Memorial, she will begin her new responsibilities on Jan. 1, 2015.
The Taylorville Memorial Hospital board of directors approved Bourne’s selection on Nov. 11.
“I am delighted that Kim has accepted this position to lead Taylorville Memorial Hospital as we serve the health-care needs of the people of Christian County and surrounding counties,” said Daniel Austin, the nonprofit hospital’s board chairman.
Bourne follows Daniel J. Raab, who has served as president and CEO of Taylorville Memorial for 19 years, arriving when it was then known as St. Vincent Memorial Hospital. Raab will retire on Dec. 31.
Bourne grew up in Christian County on her family’s farm between Morrisonville and Pawnee. She and her husband, Rod, live in Pawnee and have three children: Avery, 22, Mason, 19, and Reese, 16.
“I’m grateful to join a hospital that’s dedicated to providing quality health care to the people of Christian County,” Bourne said. “Having grown up in Christian County, I feel a real connection to this community and consider it a privilege to serve them.”
Bourne began her career with Memorial Medical Center in 1989 as associate director of clinical nutrition and was named senior associate director in 1993. The following year, she was chosen as the director of the hospital’s food and nutrition services department, a position she held for 19 years until she accepted her current role as system director of patient safety.
In 2011, Bourne received the Woody Hester Legacy of Leadership Award, which recognizes Memorial Health System leaders who guide others with unwavering commitment, inspire a shared vision, reflect Memorial’s values and act with conviction in helping to pursue Memorial’s mission to improve the health of the people and communities it serves.
A registered dietitian, Bourne received a master of science degree in dietetics from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and a bachelor of science degree in dietetics from Western Illinois University in Macomb.
She is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Taylorville Memorial Hospital is one of seven affiliates of Memorial Health System.
