Taylorville Memorial Hospital

If you answered Taylorville Memorial Hospital, you are correct. Taylorville Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in south-central Illinois to be named one of the nation’s Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals. After all, our state-of-the-art facility is staffed with some of the most experienced physicians around. Choose Memorial. Great health starts here — at Taylorville Memorial.

Taylorville Memorial Hospital is committed to high-quality patient-centered care. Our nationally recognized quality efforts aim to provide our patients with not only the safest, highest quality of care, but a singularly great patient experience.

NOTE: Charles Callahan, PhD, was named Memorial's executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective April 1, 2014.

Our commitment to quality has been recognized on a national scale by respected and peer-reviewed committees, associations and publications focused on patient-centered excellence.

In March 2013, Taylorville Memorial Hospital - along with fellow Memorial Health System affiliate Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital - was recognized by iVantage Health Analytics as one of the nation's top 100 best-performing critical access hospitals.

The recognition is based on iVantage's Hospital Strength Index and its measures of market conditions, clinical and operational performance and financial and qualitative outcomes.

"Measuring the effectiveness of our care delivery processes and patient outcomes is vital to improving the quality of care we provide to every patient, every day," said Dan Raab, Taylorville Memorial Hospital's president and chief executive officer. "To be honored as one of only five top 100 HealthStrong hospitals in Illinois provides our patients and the communities we serve with another important assurance of the high-quality healthcare services that are available to them at our hospitals."

In May 2013, Taylorville Memorial Hospital was one of 40 hospitals and health systems in the country to earn the 2013 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence, an award for excellence in achieving national performance standards for clinical quality, safety and patient experience.

"VHA's Leadership Award recognizes organizations that achieve top performance in care measures tracked by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service," Dan Raab, president and CEO of Taylorville Memorial Hospital, said. "We were honored to be the only hospital in Illinois to receive this distinction.

"Winners of the Clinical Value Leadership Award are selected based on a composite score consisting of three elements: a score based on core measures and the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Services survey results, 30-day readmission rates and Medicare cost data.

In September 2013, Memorial Health System was recognized for its efforts in reducing hospital-acquired pressure ulcers by the Illinois Hospital Association in their third annual Quality Excellence Achievement Awards. MHS captured top honors in the healthcare system category.

Quality Reporting

Quality indicators are provided to help you and your family understand how we perform in comparison to nationally recognized quality indicators. Quality indicators are compiled by Hospital Compare, a website created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), in collaboration with organizations representing consumers, hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations and other federal agencies.

These quality reports reflect Memorial Health System's commitment to helping patients and their family members make informed healthcare choices. Measuring and monitoring our performance also helps us evaluate and improve how we care for our patients.
